This lockset fits the same door preparation as the Marks New Yorker 7NY92A/26D mortise lockset, making it a direct replacement for that model. The jump is worth it when you need screwless lever plate assemblies with thru-bolted installation. Independent spring-loaded captivated spindles and lever support springs add durability for high-traffic use.

Mortise installation constraints

Mortise locksets require a pocket cut into the door edge, so they suit doors thick enough to accept the case and a 1-1/4" x 8" front face plate. The 2-3/4" backset fixes the cylinder position relative to the door edge. The 1" deadbolt throw and scissor latch with anti-friction latch determine the latch engagement depth.
