Solid Brass Mortise Cylinder
The Maxtech B118SC1-26D is a solid brass mortise cylinder with a US26D satin chrome finish. It suits residential and commercial doors that use a 1-1/8 inch cylinder length and a Schlage SC1 keyway. The standard cam #1 fits most common mortise lock bodies on the market. Keyed different cylinders provide individual access control for each opening.
Threaded Brass Construction
The cylinder threads measure 1.150 x 32 UNS and the face diameter is 1.360 inches (34.5 mm). Solid brass resists corrosion on interior and exterior doors without electronic components that draw power or generate noise. The five pin tumbler mechanism operates mechanically with a physical key. No batteries, wiring or thermal management are involved.
Direct Mortise Cylinder Replacement
This cylinder replaces worn or keyed-alike mortise cylinders that share the same 1.150 x 32 UNS thread and 1.360 inch face diameter. The upgrade is worth it when a property needs unique keys per door or when the existing finish has degraded. It will not suit locks with a different thread pitch, face diameter, cylinder length or keyway profile.

Questions about this item
How do I install the 1-1/8" mortise cylinder and which step is most often missed?
Thread the 1.150 x 32 UNS cylinder into the mortise body until the 1.360 diameter face sits flush, then secure the set screw that locks the Standard Cam #1 in place — skipping the set screw lets the cam rotate and the lock will not operate.
What maintenance or replacement will this solid brass cylinder need over time?
Lubricate the 5 pin tumbler mechanism annually with dry graphite powder; replace only if keys wear enough to bind in the Schlage SC1 keyway or if the satin chrome finish shows corrosion after extended outdoor exposure.
What is the first limitation that appears under heavy daily use?
The 5 pin tumbler Schlage SC1 keyway will show key wear before the solid brass body or standard cam, causing occasional sticking that signals a key replacement rather than a cylinder failure.
