The MAXTECH Mortise Lockset 92 is a left-hand latch-only lockset finished in polished brass. It uses a scissor latch and anti-friction latch with a 2-3/4 inch backset and a wide 1-1/4 by 8 inch faceplate. Thru-bolted screwless lever plates and independent spring-loaded captivated spindles provide secure mounting. A solid brass cylinder with two keys operates the exterior; there is no interior thumb turn.

This lockset fits the same door preparation as the Marks USA New Yorker 7NY92DW mortise lockset. The jump is worth it when a commercial-grade vestibule or storeroom function is required without a deadbolt or rocker. ADA-compliant lever support springs and escutcheon plates suit accessible installations. It is not for doors needing a deadbolt, a privacy turn or a right-hand orientation.

Mortise latch constraints

The latch-only design means the lock cannot secure a door independently; a separate deadbolt or locking device is necessary for perimeter security. The fixed left-hand handing cannot be reversed in the field, so the door swing must match before installation. The wide faceplate requires a mortise pocket that accommodates the 1-1/4 by 8 inch dimensions. No electronic access or smart-home integration is included.
