UPS expansion board adds 5.1 V 4000 mA battery backup to Raspberry Pi Zero 2W via USB-C power input
The X306 V1.5 expansion board adds an uninterruptible power supply function to a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W. It accepts a single-cell battery and delivers backup power through a USB Type-C input rated at 5 V 3 A. Makers building portable or always-on Zero 2 W projects gain a compact UPS without redesigning their power circuitry.
The board is designed exclusively for the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W; earlier Zero or Zero W models are not supported. Builders who need a UPS for a different single-board computer or who require multi-cell battery capacity should look at other solutions. The matching X306-C1 case and C296 heatsink are optional accessories for this specific revision.
Maximum backup output is 5.1 V at 4000 mA from a single-cell holder. If your Zero 2 W project demands more current or a different voltage rail, this board will not meet the requirement. The V1.5 revision (October 2025) upgrades the battery holder for easier installation and long-term reliability.

The board accepts power through a USB Type-C 5V Power In port rated for 5Vdc ±5% at 3A, and it works with the Geekworm UL listed 20W 5V 4A USB Type-C adapter.
The packing list includes four M2.5 x 5mm screws for securing the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, and the compatible case is the X306-C1 designed for the V1.3 and V1.5 revisions.
The V1.5 revision features an enhanced single-cell battery holder for smoother insertion and removal; ensure the battery polarity matches the holder markings before seating it fully.
