Mellanox Technologies MCX354A-FCBT 40 / 56GbE dual-port QSFP adapter accessory

SKU CH-7NP7-68CK7 MPN MCX354A-FCBT

Dual-port QSFP adapter delivering 40 or 56 GbE over PCI for high-speed wired networking

  • Dual-port design doubles connectivity options with QSFP interfaces
  • 40 / 56GbE throughput handles demanding network workloads
  • PCI compatibility fits standard server expansion slots
  • High-profile bracket secures the card in full-height chassis
  • ConnectX-3 VPI architecture supports both Ethernet and InfiniBand protocols

Product Identity

The Mellanox ConnectX-3 VPI adapter provides dual-port QSFP connectivity at 40 or 56GbE over a PCI slot. It is a wired network card designed for servers or workstations that require high-throughput Ethernet or InfiniBand links. The card ships with a high-profile bracket for standard chassis installation.

Suitable Buyers

This card suits administrators upgrading existing PCI-based clusters to 40 or 56GbE speeds using QSFP cabling. It is not for builders who need a PCI Express interface, nor for systems that only accept low-profile brackets. Buyers requiring single-port density or different connector types should look at other models.

Deciding Specification

The PCI interface is the single detail that determines whether this adapter fits the host. Verify that the motherboard or riser provides a compatible PCI slot before purchase.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the MCX354A-FCBT generate when running at 40 / 56GbE all day?

The adapter has no built-in fan, so it runs silently and relies on the server's airflow to stay cool.

What slot and cables must I already have to install the MCX354A-FCBT?

You need a free PCI slot on the motherboard and two QSFP cables or transceivers that match the 40 / 56GbE speed.

Will the MCX354A-FCBT work in a system that still uses older PCI cards alongside it?

Yes, it occupies a single PCI slot and does not interfere with other legacy cards installed in the same chassis.
