Dual QSFP network adapter delivering 40 GbE and 56 Gb/s InfiniBand over PCIe 3.0 x8
The Mellanox ConnectX-3 VPI adapter plugs into a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot and presents two QSFP cages. It targets enterprise data centres, high-performance computing clusters and embedded systems that need both Ethernet and InfiniBand fabrics from a single piece of hardware.
The half-height bracket measures 2.7 inches by 5.6 inches, so it suits low-profile chassis. Each cage accepts a QSFP transceiver or direct-attach cable, freeing the builder from sourcing separate Ethernet and InfiniBand adapters for the same server.
Power draw and thermal output are handled passively through the heatsink, keeping acoustic impact at zero. The host system must supply adequate airflow across the slot, but the adapter itself adds no fan noise to the rack.

Each QSFP port supports up to 40 Gb/s Ethernet or 56 Gb/s InfiniBand FDR, so the port speed is the first bottleneck before the PCIe 3.0 x8 host link saturates.
The card is a passive plug-in design with no onboard fan; it relies on chassis airflow and runs within typical server thermal limits for a PCIe 3.0 x8 adapter.
You need two QSFP+ modules or DACs rated for 40 GbE or FDR InfiniBand, matching the fibre type and reach your links require.
