Dual-port ConnectX-2 VPI adapter delivers 40 Gb/s QSFP and 10 Gb/s SFP+ over PCIe 2.0 for InfiniBand or Ethernet clusters
The Mellanox MHZH29-XTR is a ConnectX-2 VPI network card built for enterprise data centres and high-performance computing clusters. It delivers both InfiniBand and Ethernet connectivity from a single PCIe 2.0 slot, targeting workloads that demand low latency and protocol flexibility.
The card operates on a PCI Express 2.0 interface, which limits total throughput to the bandwidth available on that generation. While the ports support 40 Gb/s QSFP and 10 Gb/s SFP+ signalling, the host bus can become the bottleneck for sustained bidirectional traffic at line rate.
Two different cage types sit on the bracket, so direct-attach copper or optical modules must match each port exactly. The low-profile bracket fits standard server chassis, but the mixed connector arrangement means cable management must account for differing module lengths and latch styles.

Choose the 40 Gb QSFP port for InfiniBand or 40 Gb Ethernet links, and the 10 Gb SFP+ port for standard 10 Gb Ethernet connections.
The 40 Gb QSFP port runs at line rate, but the PCIe 2.0 x8 host interface caps sustained throughput at the bus limit.
Yes, the PCIe 2.0 x8 bus sets the maximum host bandwidth, so neither port can exceed that ceiling in practice.
