Wright Brothers Airplane model kit

This steel model kit from Metal Earth reproduces the 1903 Wright Flyer in 24 precision-cut parts. Assembled dimensions reach approximately 3.94 inches long by 2.01 inches wide by 0.83 inches high. The moderate difficulty rating suits adult hobbyists who enjoy detailed scale modelling. No glue or paint is required, though tweezers are recommended for assembly.

Moderate difficulty scale modelling

The kit demands patience and fine motor skill to fold and tab the thin steel sheets into a rigid airframe. Builders without tweezers or similar tools will struggle with the smallest components. The finished model has no moving parts or interior openings, so it serves only as a static display piece. Collectors seeking functional mechanisms should look elsewhere.

Upgrade from basic snap-together kits

This officially licensed Metal Earth kit replaces simpler plastic or card models that lack true-to-scale surface detail. The jump is worth it when the builder wants museum-grade exterior accuracy and a durable steel finish. Buyers who want a larger wingspan, opening panels or a motorised propeller will not find those features here.
