The Meterk TH-338 kit combines a 5 ml no-clean rosin flux paste with a 10 ft oxygen-free copper desoldering braid. It is intended for technicians and hobbyists who repair phone PCBs, BGA packages, SMD components and general consumer electronics. A plunger syringe, three needles and a push rod are included for controlled flux dispensing.

Flux Activity & Braid Limits

The rosin flux is RoHS compliant, leaves no residue and produces low smoke, but its activity level suits standard leaded and lead-free solders only; heavily oxidised or high-temperature joints may need a more aggressive chemistry. The braid width is .1 in and relies on thermal transfer from the iron tip, so very large ground planes or multi-layer boards can exceed its absorption speed.

Installation & Common Issues

Apply flux through the needle, heat the joint with the iron, then lay the wick on the molten solder and remove both together once saturated. Cut off the used section with side cutters. Problems arise if the iron temperature is too low, the wick is moved before full absorption, or excess flux is left on sensitive high-impedance circuits.
