Extension length and purpose

This Metra 44EC24 cable adds 24 inches of reach to a vehicle antenna connection. It suits installers who need extra routing length when relocating a head unit or antenna base. The universal fit works with standard motorola-style plugs found in many cars and aftermarket radios.

Thermal noise and power characteristics

As a passive coaxial extender it draws no power and generates no heat or audible noise. Signal loss over the two-foot span is negligible for typical FM and AM reception. The black jacket resists abrasion during installation behind dash panels.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 44EC24 antenna extension cable and what step do people often miss?

Connect the cable between the factory antenna lead and the radio tuner input, then ensure both connectors are fully seated; the common mistake is leaving one end loose, which causes signal loss.

What maintenance or replacement will the 24 inch antenna extension cable need later?

Inspect the black jacket and connectors during routine vehicle service; replace the cable if the shielding is cracked, corrosion appears on the plugs, or reception degrades noticeably.
