It mounts with an external bracket that requires no tools, so owners of cars, SUVs, pickups, trucks and lorries can fit it without a dashboard cut-out. The unit is new and ships as a 1/2 DIN chassis.

Sustained operation

Bluetooth 5.0 maintains the wireless link to a paired phone while the 1200 by 600 touch display runs navigation, media playback and voice commands for the duration of a journey. The H.264 and H.265/HEVC decoders handle streamed video without dropping frames, and the rear camera feed switches on automatically when the reversing light circuit is live then shuts off when driving resumes.

Build and connections

A 2.5D tempered glass panel protects the touchscreen and the brightness can be adjusted for day or night driving. Built-in stereo speakers provide sound directly, while Bluetooth, FM and AUX outputs let the audio feed an existing car stereo. The camera plugs into the AV/IN port and its power wire connects to the reversing light positive terminal for automatic operation.
