Vehicle Compatibility

The Metra 89-9400 dash kit fits Land Rover Discovery models produced between 1994 and 2004. It provides a factory-style mounting point for a single-DIN aftermarket radio in the original dashboard opening. The black trim plate matches the interior aesthetic and is supplied new.

Installer Suitability

This kit suits installers replacing the original head unit in a compatible Discovery with a standard DIN chassis. It does not suit vehicles outside the stated model years or installations requiring a double-DIN aperture, as the plate only accommodates a single-DIN radio footprint.

Critical Specification

The defining specification is the single-DIN trim plate aperture, which dictates that only a standard-height aftermarket radio can be mounted. Buyers planning to fit a taller double-DIN multimedia unit must select a different dash kit because this plate cannot accept that form factor.

Questions about this item

Does the 89-9400 kit use a DIN-standard opening for the aftermarket radio?

Yes, the trim plate is DIN-mountable so any standard single-DIN head unit will bolt directly into the opening.

What dashboard components must be removed before the 89-9400 trim plate can be fitted?

You remove the factory radio and the surrounding OEM trim panel; the kit then snaps into the original Land Rover Discovery dashboard aperture.
