GM Multi-Kit 1982-2002

The METRA 99-4545 is a single-DIN dash kit that fits GM vehicles from 1982 through 2002. It lets installers mount a standard DIN radio into the original dashboard opening without custom fabrication.

Two-shaft to DIN conversion

The kit replaces factory two-shaft radio openings with a DIN chassis using four snap-on ABS faceplates. The jump is worth it when the original brackets are present or when the optional 02-4544 bracket kit is available for missing hardware.

Factory bracket dependency

Installation relies on original equipment brackets or the separate 02-4544 kit; without them the housing cannot be secured. The 1/2-inch and 1-inch extension plates cover most dash depths but cannot compensate for non-standard mounting points.

Questions about this item

Does the 99-4545 kit include the mounting brackets for a 1999 Escalade?

The kit is designed to use original factory brackets; if those are missing, the separate 02-4544 bracket kit is required.

What is the most common mistake when snapping the faceplates onto the housing?

Installers often force the wrong plate; verify you have selected the flat 1/2 inch, the 1/2 inch with equalizer cutout, or the 1 inch extension before snapping.

Will the ABS plastic faceplates on this multi-kit warp or fade over time in a 1995 Camaro dashboard?

The faceplates are moulded ABS plastic; prolonged sun exposure can eventually cause fading or slight warping, so a UV protectant helps extend appearance.
