An OnStar interface that retains safety chimes and accessory power for 2006-2007 Saturn vehicles with adjustable volume
The Metra GMOS-LAN-06 is a dedicated data-bus interface that lets you replace the factory radio in select 2006-2007 Saturn models with an aftermarket head unit. It preserves the vehicle's OnStar system, all safety chimes and warning tones, and the retained accessory power convenience features. The module works on vehicles with or without a factory amplifier and includes an adjustable OnStar volume output.
This interface connects directly to the vehicle's GMLAN data bus and requires no external power supply, cooling or moving parts. It adds zero audible noise, generates no heat and draws no measurable current beyond the data-line signalling. Installation is a simple plug-in behind the dash with no configuration required for normal operation.
The single specification that determines fitment is the USB-updateable firmware, which ensures the module stays compatible with the GMLAN data-bus protocol used in the listed Saturn vehicles. Without this update path the interface could lose OnStar and chime functionality if the vehicle's bus behaviour changes. Builders who need an interface for non-GMLAN platforms or for model years outside 2006-2007 cannot use this part.

Connect the interface to the vehicle's GMLAN data bus harness behind the dash, then use the USB update port to load the latest firmware before finalising the install; the OnStar volume is set via the interface's onboard adjustment after power-up.
The USB update port and internal flash memory handle firmware revisions; if future vehicle updates change the data-bus protocol, a firmware reload via USB is the only maintenance the interface itself requires.
The interface draws minimal current from the retained accessory power circuit, so the vehicle's accessory-power time-out — not the module — is the first limit encountered during extended key-off operation.
