Double-ended 60° carbide engraving tool with a 1/2 in. length of cut and .0040 in. tip
The Micro 100 RSC-312-24 is a double-ended engraving tool built for precision marking on metal workpieces. Its uncoated carbide construction resists wear during repeated passes. Machinists and fabricators who need consistent groove geometry will find it suited to detailed lettering or serial-number work. The 1/2 inch length of cut defines the maximum engagement depth per pass.
Confirm that your engraving spindle or rotary holder accepts the shank diameter implied by the RSC-312-24 designation before ordering. Ensure the machine spindle runs true with minimal runout, as carbide tips chip under vibration. Check that your workholding clamps the part firmly enough to prevent deflection during the cut. Review the 0.0040 inch tip radius specification against your drawing tolerances.
The tool mounts directly in a compatible collet or tool holder, freeing the operator from frequent bit changes thanks to its double-ended design. It requires a spindle capable of the RPM range appropriate for carbide in your workpiece material. Coolant or mist delivery clears chips from the narrow groove. The uncoated surface allows re-sharpening when the edges dull, extending service life.

The tool is supplied as a single carbide engraving insert with a 60° included angle, .0040 in tip radius and 1/2 in length of cut; holders, collets or shanks are not included and must be sourced separately.
The 60° included angle and .0040 in tip radius suit fine-detail marking and light engraving in metals or plastics; wider angles or larger tip radii are better for deeper cuts or faster material removal.
A 1/2 in length of cut provides moderate reach for shallow pockets while keeping the carbide shank short enough to maintain rigidity and minimise deflection during engraving passes.
