  • PC3 8500 rating confirms tested bandwidth performance
  • Registered design adds stability for compatible systems

8 GB DDR3 1066 desktop module

This 8 GB DDR3 module runs at 1066 MHz and is built for desktop systems that accept PC3-8500 memory. It suits owners of older workstations or servers needing a direct replacement or a capacity increase within the DDR3 platform. The registered design adds signal buffering for stable operation in multi-module configurations.

DDR3 platform ceiling limits further speed

DDR3 1066 represents the base data rate for this generation, so the module cannot exceed the 8500 MB/s bandwidth ceiling defined by the standard. Systems requiring higher throughput must move to a newer memory architecture, and boards limited to lower speeds will downclock the module automatically.

Questions about this item

Should I pick this 8GB DDR3 1066 module or a different capacity for my upgrade?

This module provides a single 8GB stick of DDR3 1066 memory. If your board has free slots and supports 8GB per slot, adding one is straightforward. For dual-channel performance, buy a second identical stick.

What does the PC3-8500 rating mean for actual system speed?

PC3-8500 indicates a peak transfer rate of 8500 MB/s at 1066 MT/s. In a real machine the module will run at the highest speed your motherboard and CPU memory controller both support, which may be lower than 1066.
