40th Anniversary Flight Simulator

Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition is a downloadable simulation game for Xbox Series X/S and Windows PCs. It marks four decades of the franchise with the first inclusion of helicopters and gliders since 2006. The package delivers 37 highly detailed aircraft ranging from the 1903 Wright Flyer to the Airbus A-310. Pilots of every skill level can explore a living world rendered with over 2 million cities and 1.5 billion buildings.

Optimised console performance

This edition is optimised for Xbox Series X/S, providing unparalleled load times, heightened visuals and steadier frame rates on console hardware. The digital code uses Xbox One and Windows DRM for licence validation. No physical media is included, so installation begins immediately after redemption. The simulation scales its assistance systems from guided checklists to full manual control without taxing thermal or acoustic limits beyond normal platform operation.

Helicopters and gliders included

The decisive addition for this release is the introduction of rotary-wing and engineless flight models alongside the Airbus A-310 airliner. Buyers who only want fixed-wing general aviation or military combat aircraft will not find those categories expanded here. The edition also adds 15 glider airports and 14 heliports to the existing 30 handcrafted airports and 4 classic commercial fields.
