What the product is

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a digital download code for Xbox One that bundles Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3 and Halo 4. The ESRB rates it Mature for blood, gore, language and violence. It is built for shooter fans who want the complete Master Chief saga in one licence.

How it fits into a build

The code activates on an Xbox One console or a Windows 8.1 device through the Xbox DRM platform. A broadband connection is required to download the titles and to stream the Halo: Nightfall series. Online multiplayer modes need an active Xbox Live Gold subscription, which is purchased separately.

How it behaves under sustained load

Hidden terminal videos and the episodic Nightfall series stream continuously over broadband, so sustained bandwidth matters more than burst speed. The Halo 5: Guardians Beta ran from 29 December 2014 to 18 January 2015 and also demanded Gold membership. Players must be 17 or older to access online features.
