Refurbished 2-in-1 with detachable design

This refurbished Microsoft Surface Pro 5 functions as a laptop or tablet thanks to its detachable form factor. It runs Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on an Intel Core i5-7300U dual-core processor with 8 GB of onboard memory. The 12.3-inch touchscreen delivers a 2736 x 1824 resolution for precise pen and touch input.

Sustained workloads on integrated graphics

The Intel HD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory rather than dedicated video memory. Under continuous load the dual-core Kaby Lake CPU and integrated GPU will throttle to manage thermals within the slim chassis. Expect stable performance for office suites, web browsing and video playback, but not for extended rendering or gaming sessions.

Upgrade from older tablets or basic laptops

This unit replaces a first-generation Surface or a traditional clamshell laptop lacking pen support. The jump is worth it when you need the 2736 x 1824 display, detachable versatility and 256 GB SSD in a single device. Buyers who require user-upgradable memory or discrete graphics should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Core i5-7300U get during all-day use?

The dual-core Kaby Lake processor runs at low power, so fan noise and surface temperature stay modest even under sustained loads.

Which peripherals must I already own to use this detachable 2-in-1?

The Type Cover keyboard and Surface Pen are sold separately; you will need a compatible Type Cover for laptop-style typing.

Will my existing Surface Dock or charger work with this 12.3" model?

The device uses the proprietary Surface Connect port, so earlier Surface power supplies and docks that share that connector are compatible.
