Surface Dock PD9-00003

This Microsoft docking station connects compatible Surface devices to external displays and peripherals using a magnetic Surface Connect cable. It adds two Mini DisplayPort outputs, a Gigabit Ethernet port, four USB 3.0 ports and an audio output. The compact black unit measures 5.12 by 2.36 by 1.18 inches and weighs 1.21 lbs. An external power supply is included for charging the connected device.

Compatibility and limits

The dock supports Surface Pro 3 through 7, Surface Pro X, Surface Go and Go 2, Surface Laptop 1 through 3, Surface Book and Surface Book 2. It does not suit users whose devices lack a Surface Connect port or who require HDMI, DVI, VGA or USB-C video outputs directly from the dock. Buyers needing more than two external monitors should look elsewhere.

Two Mini DisplayPort video outputs

The single specification that decides fit is the pair of Mini DisplayPort connectors for external displays. If your monitors accept Mini DisplayPort or you have suitable adapters, this dock drives two screens. If you need native HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C video connections, this unit will not meet that requirement without extra adapters.
