12.3-inch 2-in-1 Tablet for Mobile Professionals

The Surface Pro 5 is a 2017 Windows 10 Pro tablet with a 12.3-inch 2736 x 1824 LCD touchscreen. It runs on a dual-core Intel Core i5-7300U processor at 2.6 GHz with 8GB memory and 256GB built-in storage. Weighing 1.73 pounds and measuring .33 inches thin, it targets users needing laptop performance in a detachable form factor.

Connectivity Limits of USB 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11

The device includes a single USB port and relies on IEEE 802.11a/ac/b/g wireless with Bluetooth 4.0. No HDMI output is present, so external displays require a USB adapter. The single port restricts simultaneous peripheral charging and data transfer without a hub. Battery life exceeds 5 hours under typical mixed use.

Kickstand and Type Cover Installation Notes

The integrated multi-position kickstand supports laptop-style use on stable surfaces but can be unstable on laps. The Type Cover and Surface Pen are sold separately, adding cost and setup steps. The Pen offers 4096 pressure levels but requires pairing via Bluetooth. Users should verify keyboard firmware updates after first connection.
