Versatile 2-in-1 tablet

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 model 1796 is a detachable tablet with a 12.3-inch PixelSense touchscreen. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8250U processor at 1.6GHz with 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage. The device includes a built-in kickstand for laptop or tablet use and ships with Windows 11 installed.

Sustained productivity performance

The Intel UHD Graphics 620 and quad-core processor handle photo editing and general productivity tasks consistently. Thermal management through the fanless design maintains performance during typical workloads without throttling. The 45-watt AC adapter provides sufficient power for continuous operation. Gaming workloads are not recommended for this integrated graphics solution.

Simple setup with missing accessories

The tablet arrives factory reset and ready to use after initial Windows configuration. No keyboard or stylus is included in the package, so buyers must purchase the Type Cover and Surface Pen separately. The single USB port and headphone jack limit peripheral connectivity without a hub. Bluetooth 4.1 supports wireless keyboards and mice for expanded input options.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i5-8250U get during all-day workloads?

The quad-core i5-8250U runs at a 1.6 GHz base frequency with Intel UHD Graphics 620 and is cooled passively inside the 12.3-inch chassis, so sustained loads stay quiet though the rear can become warm.

Which accessories are essential because they are not in the box?

The package includes only the tablet and a 45-watt AC adapter; a Type Cover keyboard and Surface Pen must be purchased separately for typing and inking.

Can I connect my older USB-A peripherals directly to the USB 3.0 ports?

Yes, the two full-size USB 3.0 ports accept standard USB-A plugs, so existing mice, drives and dongles work without adapters.
