Purpose-built keyboard cover for Surface Pro

The Microsoft Surface Pro Signature Keyboard Type Cover French Canadian 142 is a genuine accessory designed to deliver a laptop-class typing experience on a tablet. It combines a full mechanical keyset, backlit keys and a large trackpad in a slim profile that clicks securely to the device. Alcantara material on select versions adds a soft, durable finish.

French Canadian layout

The single specification that determines fit is the French Canadian key layout identified by the 142 suffix. This layout matches Canadian bilingual requirements and will not suit users who need a standard US or UK arrangement. The cover connects physically and functionally to compatible Surface Pro models without additional setup.

Suits mobile professionals needing a French

Writers, students and business users who require the French Canadian layout and want a compact, backlit keyboard with integrated trackpad will benefit. Buyers who need a different regional layout, a detachable stand-alone keyboard or a cover without the Alcantara finish should look at other options.

Questions about this item

How does the full mechanical keyset and backlighting affect daily typing on this cover?

The keyset gives a full-size keyboard feel with tactile feedback, while the backlit keys let you type accurately in low light without needing an external lamp.

What connection does the Type Cover use and does it limit any features?

It attaches magnetically to the Surface Pro 7 and draws power through that link, so no separate charging or Bluetooth pairing is required.

What physical clearance does the Alcantara-covered deck need when folded back?

The cover folds flat against the rear of the tablet, adding only the fabric thickness, so it slips into a sleeve or bag without extra bulk.
