Universal rack shelf for heavy components

This Middle Atlantic Products U3 shelf installs in a standard rack and provides a solid, non-vented platform. It accepts any component that fits within three rack spaces and weighs up to 70 pounds. Installers can use it for amplifiers, servers or other dense equipment that needs a flat mounting surface.

Passive cooling and silent operation

The shelf has no fans or moving parts, so it adds no audible noise to the rack. Heat dissipation relies on natural convection around the stored device and the airflow already present in the cabinet. Because it draws no power, it does not increase the electrical load of the installation.

Questions about this item

How is the U3 universal rack shelf secured in a rack, and what installation step is often missed?

The shelf mounts using the front rack rails; the step often missed is tightening all four mounting screws evenly to support the full 70 lb capacity.

What maintenance does the non-vented U3 shelf require over time?

No scheduled maintenance is needed; simply inspect the mounting hardware periodically and clean the surface with a dry cloth if dust accumulates.
