What the ring does

An external retaining ring fits over the outside of a shaft to hold components in place or to fix the shaft to a stationary part. This eight-piece pack supplies the rings needed for that locating function.

Check shaft diameter

The rings are made for a 1-1/8 in shaft diameter, so verify the shaft you are working on matches that size before ordering. Also confirm the groove on the shaft is cut to accept an external ring of this type.

Behaviour under load

Once seated in the groove the ring resists axial movement and keeps assembled parts from sliding off during vibration or sustained force. The steel construction maintains its spring tension without permanent deformation under normal operating conditions.

Questions about this item

Does the 8-pack contain every ring I need for one shaft, or do I need to buy extra rings separately?

The pack supplies eight identical external retaining rings sized for a 1-1/8 in shaft, so no additional rings are required for that diameter.

Should I choose the 8-pack or a different quantity for a single repair job?

The 8-pack gives you spares in case a ring is damaged during installation or if you service multiple shafts of the same size.

What does the 1-1/8 in shaft diameter mean when I fit the ring on my equipment?

The ring snaps into the groove on a shaft measuring 1-1/8 in, holding components in place axially without slipping.
