Coupling nut for threaded rods

A MIDWEST FASTENER coupling nut joins two threaded rods end to end. The long nut is tapped from each side so the threads meet in the middle. It provides a straight inline connection for rod assemblies. Builders extending all-thread or studding use this hardware.

Steel zinc plated finish

The steel body carries a zinc plated coating for corrosion resistance. Normal use shows low friction during hand tightening. No moving parts generate noise or heat. Power draw is not applicable for this passive fastener.

3/8"-16 thread specification

The nut fits rods with a 3/8"-16 thread pitch. Verify that both rods match this exact specification before purchase. It will not work with metric, coarse or fine threads of a different diameter. Buyers needing a different thread size must select another part.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 3/8"-16 coupling nut and what step is often missed?

Thread each rod into the nut from opposite ends until they meet in the centre; the common error is stopping before both rods are fully engaged.

What maintenance will this zinc-plated steel nut need over time?

Inspect the threads for corrosion or galling; if the zinc coating wears through, replace the nut to maintain joint integrity.

What limit appears first when the joint is under sustained load?

The tensile strength of the 3/8"-16 threads or the connected rods will govern the maximum sustained load.
