Fastener Type and Typical Use

This blind rivet has a large flanged head, a 3/16 inch diameter and a 1/4 inch length. It joins materials when access is only available from one side. A rivet tool pulls the mandrel to expand the blind end before the mandrel snaps off. The fastener suits sheet metal, plastic and similar thin sections.

Installation Process and Tool Requirement

The rivet body is inserted into a pre-drilled hole through both workpieces. A hand or pneumatic riveter draws the mandrel, forming the clinched tail on the blind side. No heat, threading or access to the rear surface is needed during setting. The mandrel breaks at a designed point once the joint is clamped.

Upgrade From Solid Rivets or Screws

This part replaces solid rivets that require two-sided access and bucking bars. It also replaces machine screws where tapping or a nut is impractical on thin material. The switch is worth it when joint access is restricted to one face or when faster, single-operator assembly is required.
