Product Identity

The MIDWEST FASTENER 71928 pushnut washers come in a pack of 30 pieces. They suit mechanics and DIY users who need fast, permanent retention on 5/16 inch studs without threading.

Installation Characteristics

The zinc-plated steel body resists corrosion during normal use. Flanges act as inward-facing teeth that grip the stud when pushed or lightly tapped into place. No tools are required for fitting.

Upgrade Context

These washers replace threaded nuts where speed of assembly matters and disassembly is not planned. The jump is worth it when a permanent, vibration-resistant hold is needed and cutting for removal is acceptable.

Questions about this item

How do I install these 5/16" pushnut washers on a shaft without damaging them?

Align the washer over the shaft and press or tap it straight on until the inward-facing flanges grip; do not twist, because the teeth only engage with direct axial force.

What maintenance or replacement will the zinc-plated steel washers need over time?

The zinc plating resists corrosion, but if the coating is scratched or the joint sees frequent vibration, inspect for rust or loosening and replace any washer that no longer grips the shaft securely.

What is the first limit reached when these pushnuts are under sustained vibration or axial load?

The inward-facing flanges can gradually deform or wear, reducing their bite on the shaft until the washer backs off or spins freely.
