Lock nut dimensions and finish

This 7/8"-9 steel lock nut uses a low-profile jam-nut design that sits roughly half the height of a standard hex nut. The zinc-plated surface provides corrosion resistance for indoor or sheltered outdoor assemblies. It is sold in a ten-piece pack for repeat fastening tasks.

Pack quantity supports repeated use

The ten-count package lets mechanics keep spares on hand for maintenance jobs that require locking two nuts together on the same stud. Buyers who only need a single replacement nut will have unused pieces left over.

Thread standard limits compatibility

The coarse 7/8"-9 thread pitch fits only matching bolts or studs; it will not engage finer or metric threads. The jam-nut locking method relies on a second nut being present, so applications without room for two nuts cannot use this locking style.

Questions about this item

Will the zinc plating on these 9234 nuts need replacement if used outdoors?

The zinc plating provides corrosion resistance for general use; in harsh outdoor environments it may wear over time and require replacement of the fastener.

What is the first limit reached when these 7/8"-9 lock nuts are tightened repeatedly?

The steel threads set the limit; repeated tightening can stretch or deform them, reducing clamping force and requiring new nuts.

Do these 10-pack lock nuts generate noise or heat when left under constant vibration all day?

As passive steel fasteners they produce no noise or heat themselves; any sound or temperature rise comes from the surrounding assembly.
