USB 56K voice fax data modem

The Mighty Handle modem connects to a PC through a USB port and handles data, fax and voice calls over a standard telephone line. It complies with V.90 and V.92 recommendations and supports V.42, V.42bis and MNP5 error-correction protocols. The device is compatible with Windows 98SE, 2000, ME, XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Sustained line performance

During a continuous session the modem negotiates up to 56 K download and 48 K upload speeds while fax transmissions run at 14.4 K. Auto-retrain and auto-format sensing adjust the connection when line quality changes, keeping the link stable without manual intervention. Caller ID and distinctive-ring detection operate throughout the call.

Dual RJ11 port limits

Two RJ11 sockets allow a telephone and a fax machine to share the single line, but only one device can be active at a time. The USB interface draws power from the host so no external supply is required, yet the host must provide a free USB port and the operating system must include or accept the supplied driver.

Windows 98SE through Windows 7 support

Driver installation uses the included CD and the built-in fax widget in Vista and Windows 7; earlier systems need the fax component added from a Windows disc. The package contains the modem, a telephone cable and the driver disc. No other operating systems or interfaces are supported.
