1/4" Bronze Gate Valve Class 200
The Milwaukee Valve 1153 is a quarter-inch bronze gate valve rated for 200 psi steam and 400 psi water, oil or gas. It has female NPT threads and a rising stem with a wheel handle for manual operation. The solid bronze wedge and bronze seat provide a tight seal in residential and light-commercial plumbing systems.
Rising stem operation under pressure
The rising stem design lifts the solid bronze wedge clear of the flow path when fully open, reducing turbulence and pressure drop across the 5.6 Cv port. Bronze stem and bonnet threads resist galling during repeated cycling at the rated 400 psi cold working pressure. Union bonnet construction allows the internal assembly to be removed for inspection without cutting the pipe.
Female NPT connection limits
The 1/4" female NPT ends suit small-bore piping but cannot be flanged or adapted to larger diameters without additional fittings. Bronze body material is not compatible with highly acidic or caustic media that would attack copper alloys. The 200 psi steam rating sets the upper temperature boundary for saturated steam service.

Questions about this item
How much heat does the 1/4" bronze gate valve generate when it runs all day?
The valve has no moving electrical parts, so it produces no measurable heat during continuous operation.
What pipe thread must I already have to connect the 1/4" FNPT valve?
You need a mating 1/4" male NPT thread on the adjoining pipe or fitting for a proper seal.
Will the bronze body and wedge resist corrosion if I keep my older steel piping?
Bronze resists galvanic corrosion better than plain steel, but a dielectric union is still recommended when joining dissimilar metals.
