Purpose and fit

The Milwaukee Valve 590T is a 1/2-inch bronze globe valve with FNPT connections for fluid and steam lines. It suits plumbing and light industrial installations that require a rising-stem valve rated to 300 psi fluid pressure.

What the design changes

The tee-pattern body and bronze construction handle temperatures up to 406 degrees F and steam pressure to 150 psi WSP. A hand-wheel operator and rising stem give visible position indication without needing external power or actuators.

Deciding specification

The valve carries a Class 150 rating with a 300 psi maximum fluid pressure limit. Systems that exceed this pressure or require a different connection type cannot use this valve.

Questions about this item

Does the bronze stem or hand-wheel need periodic lubrication?

The valve uses a bronze stem and hand-wheel; no scheduled lubrication is required for the bronze stem itself.

Will the 300 psi fluid-pressure rating hold during continuous operation?

The 300 psi fluid-pressure rating is the maximum working pressure; sustained use should stay at or below this value.

How hot does the valve body get when handling 406 °F steam all day?

At the 406 °F maximum fluid temperature the bronze body will reach near steam temperature, so insulation is recommended for personnel protection.
