What this CF adapter does

The Mimo Tech CF Adapter Card fits Canon and Nikon SLR cameras that accept CompactFlash media, letting you use a microSD card instead of a native CF card. It supports capacities up to 2 TB and a maximum transfer rate of 133X for stills and video workflows.

File support and format handling

The adapter reads and writes AVI, MOV and MP4 video files plus JPG, PNG, MBP photos and MP3, WAV audio. Cards of 64 GB or larger ship formatted as exFAT and must be reformatted to FAT32 on a computer before the camera will recognise them.

Build and daily fit

Measuring 44 x 36 x 3.3 mm, the adapter slides into the CF slot without protruding, so the battery door closes normally. The package includes one adapter only; a separate microSD card and card reader are required for formatting and data transfer.

Questions about this item

Will the micro-SD card need reformatting before the camera recognises it?

Cards of 64 GB or above ship formatted as exFAT; they must be converted to FAT32 on a computer using the supplied conversion software before the camera can read them.

What is the maximum sustained transfer rate the adapter can deliver?

The adapter is rated at a maximum 133X read-write conversion rate, which is the limiting factor during continuous shooting or video capture.

Does the adapter generate noticeable heat during all-day use?

The passive design has no active cooling; heat output will depend on the host camera and the micro-SD card used.
