minisforum DEG1 Oculink eGPU Dock
The minisforum DEG1 is an external GPU docking station that connects a laptop or mini PC to a full-length graphics card through an Oculink 4i PCIe 4.0 x4 uplink. It accepts ATX or SFX power supplies and provides a PCIe x16 slot wired at 4.0 x4 speeds for modern GPUs. A force-power-on button with LED lets you start the enclosure independently.
Oculink PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth limit
The Oculink 4i uplink delivers four lanes of PCIe 4.0, so the graphics card runs at x4 electrical width rather than the x16 a desktop board would provide. The interface does not support hot plugging; the host must be powered off before connecting or disconnecting the cable. The locking Oculink connector requires the release switch to be pressed, otherwise forced removal damages the port.
ATX and SFX power supply support
The enclosure includes a standard 24-pin ATX connector and is built to house either an ATX or SFX power supply, letting you match the unit to the graphics card's power needs. The follow-start feature that turns the dock on with the host only works with Minisforum mini PCs using their original cables. Builders using other hosts must power the dock manually.

Questions about this item
Should I pick the ATX or SFX power supply for the DEG1?
The DEG1 accepts either an ATX or SFX unit. Choose ATX if you want maximum wattage headroom for an RTX 4090 or RX 7900 XTX, or SFX if your chassis space is limited. Both connect to the onboard 24-pin ATX connector and the ForcePowerOn button.
What does PCIe 4.0 x4 mean for an RTX 4090 in this dock?
The Oculink uplink runs at PCIe 4.0 x4, so the graphics card sees a four-lane Gen 4 link. That bandwidth is enough for most gaming workloads, though a few compute-heavy titles may show a small difference versus a full x16 slot.
How does the Oculink 4i connection limit what I can plug in?
The dock uses an Oculink 4i (PCIe 4.0 x4) uplink, so the downstream PCIe x16 slot is electrically x4. Hot-plug is not supported — power off the host before connecting or disconnecting, and always press the locking switch to avoid port damage.
