Mechanical keyboard with red linear switches

The MOFII AK96 is a full-size mechanical keyboard built around red linear switches rated at 45cN actuation force and 1.8-2.0mm pre-travel. It targets gamers and typists who want fast, non-tactile keystrokes without a clicky sound profile. The 96-key layout includes a dedicated knob for on-the-fly adjustments. It connects via a USB-C cable with a USB-A adapter for broad host compatibility.

Red switch actuation force and travel

The single specification that decides fit is the red switch characteristic: 45cN actuation force with 1.8-2.0mm actuation travel. This linear feel suits rapid double-taps and smooth key presses but lacks a tactile bump, so users who prefer pronounced feedback should look elsewhere. The double-injection ABS keycaps are designed to maintain legend clarity under the 17 backlight modes.

Sustained use stability and heat

During extended sessions the two-stage adjustable feet and high-density silicone corner pads keep the board planted, reducing micro-movements that cause fatigue. The plastic chassis and lubricated switches dissipate the minimal heat generated by the LED backlighting without throttling or key feel changes. The fixed USB-C cable ensures consistent power delivery for the 12 programmable keys and knob functions over long periods.

Questions about this item

How does the 45 cN actuation force feel in daily typing and gaming?

The Red switch needs only 45 cN to actuate, so each keystroke registers with a light, linear press and no tactile bump, letting you type or game for long sessions without finger fatigue.

What does the USB-C connection with the included USB-A cable actually limit or enable?

The detachable USB-C to USB-A cable carries both power and data, giving a stable wired link to any PC or Mac with a standard USB-A port and requiring no drivers or batteries.

Will the 96-key layout and the side knob fit on a compact desk?

The 96-key form factor keeps the numeric block while trimming extra gaps, and the two-stage flip-out feet let you set a low or raised angle so the board stays stable on a small surface.
