Bluetooth 5 audio adapter

The Monoprice 138071 is a Bluetooth 5 transmitter and receiver that adds wireless streaming to any device with a 3.5 mm or optical S/PDIF port. It supports aptX, aptX HD and aptX Low Latency codecs for high-quality audio. The built-in rechargeable battery delivers up to 20 hours of playback per charge.

Replaces wired connections

This adapter replaces a physical audio cable between a TV, Blu-ray player or phone and a speaker or headphones. The jump is worth it when you want to listen privately without running cables across a room or when your source device lacks Bluetooth. It pairs with two devices simultaneously for shared listening.

Simple setup with dual modes

Slide the switch to TX or RX mode, connect the appropriate cable and pair your headphones or speaker. The most common issue is selecting the wrong mode for the intended direction of audio flow. Ensure the source device outputs PCM stereo over optical, as multichannel bitstreams are not supported.

Questions about this item

Does the 138071 need a mains socket or can it run from its own battery?

The adapter has a built-in rechargeable battery rated for up to 20 hours of playback, so no mains socket is required during use.

How do I switch the 138071 between sending audio from a TV and receiving audio to a speaker?

Use the mode switch to select TX for transmitting from a TV or RX for receiving to headphones; the step users miss is re-pairing after changing modes.

When the internal battery of the 138071 no longer holds a charge, can I replace it myself?

The battery is not user-replaceable; once it degrades the unit must be serviced or replaced.
