Monoprice 147727 USB-C to DisplayPort Cable

This active cable connects a USB-C source to a DisplayPort 1.4 monitor. It supports resolutions up to 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz with HDR. A built-in Retimer IC maintains signal integrity across the three-foot length. The locking DisplayPort connector prevents accidental disconnection during use.

Suited for DP Alt Mode hosts needing secure 8K links

The cable works with USB-C devices that support DisplayPort Alt Mode for video output. It handles Mirror, Extended and Clamshell display modes for creative, gaming or professional setups. Buyers whose hosts lack video-capable USB-C ports cannot use this cable for display. Users requiring passive cables or longer runs beyond the available lengths should consider other options.

Retimer IC enables stable 8K60 over three feet

The integrated Retimer IC actively regenerates the DisplayPort 1.4 signal to reduce jitter and preserve bandwidth at high resolutions. This active design allows reliable 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz transmission without dropouts. The locking connector adds mechanical security for permanent installations. Aluminium alloy shells and a TPE jacket provide physical durability.

Questions about this item

Does the Retimer IC in this 147727 cable draw enough power to warm up during all‑day 8K60 use?

The built‑in Retimer IC is powered from the USB‑C port and is designed for continuous operation without overheating.

My laptop only has a standard USB‑C port — will it drive this cable?

The host must support DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB‑C; a plain data‑only port will not work.

Can I plug this into an older 4K60 monitor and still get a stable picture?

Yes, the DisplayPort 1.4 link negotiates down to 4K60 automatically while keeping HDR and the locking connector secure.
