Connector and Cable Type

This Monoprice 148851 cable pair uses USB-C connectors on both ends and features a silicone jacket rated for USB4 Gen 2 operation. The two-metre length suits desktop and mobile setups where a flexible, tangle-resistant lead is preferred.

Who It Suits

Users who need 20 Gbps data throughput, 8K video at 60 Hz with DSC or 30 Hz uncompressed, and up to 240 W Power Delivery 3.1 charging will find the specification matches those requirements. Buyers whose devices only support lower USB generations or who require a different connector format should look at other options.

Deciding Specification

The single figure that determines fit is the 20 Gbps USB4 Gen 2 data rate combined with 240 W PD 3.1 support; if the host, peripheral or dock cannot use that bandwidth or power level, the cable’s extra capability will not be exercised.

Questions about this item

What does 20Gbps mean when I plug the cable into my laptop and an external drive?

The cable supports up to 20Gbps throughput, so large video projects or game libraries move between an external drive and your laptop at near-drive speeds instead of being bottlenecked by the link.

What does USB4 Gen 2 limit in practice for video and charging?

The USB4 Gen 2 interface caps video at 8K60Hz with DSC or 8K30Hz without compression and caps power delivery at 240W via PD 3.1.

Will the 6ft silicone jacket fit behind a tight desk or in a laptop bag?

At 1.8 metres the cable is long enough for desk routing, and the soft silicone jacket stays flexible in cold temperatures and resists tangling in a bag.
