What this cable is and who it serves

This two-pack of Monoprice USB4 cables carries data at up to 40 Gbps and supplies up to 240 W of power. Each 1.5 ft braided cable is USB-IF certified and supports 8K HDR video output. The set suits users who need short, high-speed links between USB-C laptops, docks, monitors or storage devices.

Who should buy it and who should look elsewhere

Creative professionals and power users who want certified 40 Gbps throughput and full 240 W charging in a short run will benefit. Builders who need longer reach, right-angle connectors or Thunderbolt-specific active cables for distances beyond 1.5 ft should consider other options.

Installation ease and common pitfalls

Plug the USB-C ends into both devices; the cable is backward compatible with USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 hosts. The only frequent issue is expecting 40 Gbps or 240 W from a port that only supports lower power or data rates.

Questions about this item

Do both USB-C ports on my laptop need to support USB4 40 Gbps for this 1.5 ft cable to reach its rated speed?

Both ends must implement USB4 at 40 Gbps; if either port is limited to USB 3.2 or USB 2.0 the link will fall back to that lower rate.

Will this 1.5 ft cable work with the Thunderbolt 3 dock I already use?

Yes, the cable is backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4, so it will carry data, video and power through your existing dock.

How can I confirm the cable is delivering the full 240 W after I plug it in?

Check the power meter on the charger or the operating system’s battery details — both should report a negotiated Extended Power Range contract at 240 W.
