Nimbus Series 18 AWG 4-Conductor CMP Cable

This Monoprice Nimbus Series speaker cable uses 18 AWG pure bare copper conductors in a four-conductor layout. The CMP plenum rating allows installation in air-handling spaces of commercial buildings. It is suited for installers running speaker pairs through plenum ducts.

Installation notes for plenum-rated wire

The cable jacket meets CMP fire-retardant standards for plenum air spaces. Color-coded inner jackets help identify conductors during termination. Pulling four conductors through conduit requires care to avoid kinking the 100ft length. Verify local code acceptance of CMP rating before starting work.

Ideal for commercial plenum runs

Installers needing plenum-rated speaker wire for paired speakers in commercial ceilings will find this cable appropriate. Buyers who only need a two-conductor run for a single speaker should select the two-conductor version. Those requiring a different gauge or non-plenum rating should choose another product.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the 18 AWG cable is functioning correctly after installation?

Use a multimeter to check continuity across each of the four colour-coded conductors and confirm low resistance end-to-end; a clear, distortion-free audio signal from both speaker pairs also confirms proper operation.

What does the 100 ft CMP-rated reel contain and what must I supply?

The reel provides 100 ft of 18 AWG four-conductor plenum-rated speaker wire with colour-coded bare copper conductors; you will need connectors, wall plates or binding posts and any tools for termination.

When should I choose this 18 AWG four-conductor plenum version over the two-conductor option?

Select the four-conductor version when running a single cable to serve two speakers or a stereo pair; choose the two-conductor version for a single speaker run.
