CMP-Rated Plenum Speaker Wire

Monoprice Nimbus 18 AWG two-conductor cable is built for in-wall and plenum installations where fire safety codes apply. The 500 ft reel supplies enough length for whole-home audio runs or commercial distributed sound systems. Conductors use 100 percent pure bare copper for low resistance over long distances. A flame-retardant jacket meets CMP plenum requirements.

Installers needing code-compliant bulk cable

This wire suits electricians and system integrators pulling speaker circuits through air-handling spaces. The colour-coded conductors simplify polarity identification during termination. Buyers who need pre-terminated ends or a different gauge should look at other options.

18 AWG conductor gauge

The 18 AWG size determines the maximum run length before signal loss becomes audible. Verify that this gauge matches the amplifier power and speaker impedance for your specific layout.

Questions about this item

Will the 18 AWG bare copper conductors need replacement inside a plenum space?

The cable uses 100% pure bare copper rated for plenum installation, so the conductors themselves do not require scheduled replacement.

What length limit applies when running this 18 AWG wire for speaker runs?

The spool provides 500 ft of 18 AWG cable; resistance increases with distance, so keep individual runs within the gauge's recommended maximum for your amplifier's impedance.

Does the CMP jacket add noticeable heat or stiffness during all-day audio use?

The CMP-rated jacket is flame retardant and flexible; it does not generate heat, and the wire stays pliable for easy routing during extended sessions.
