Active USB 3.0 Extension for Long Runs

This five-metre active cable extends a USB-A connection up to 15 metres total without an external power supply. It draws bus power to maintain 5 Gbit/s signal integrity over distances where passive cables would fail. The male-to-female layout lets you plug any standard USB 3.0 device directly into the extension.

Sustained Throughput on Extended Links

The active repeater preserves full 5 Gbit/s bandwidth across the full 15-metre reach, preventing the throughput collapse typical of passive cables at length. Backwards compatibility with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 ensures older peripherals continue to operate at their native speeds without re-negotiation errors during long transfers.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

Bus-powered operation eliminates a separate adapter and keeps heat output negligible during continuous use. The cable runs silently because it contains no moving parts and the repeater IC draws only the current permitted by the USB specification. Plastic construction keeps weight low for simple routing.

Questions about this item

Does the 5-meter active extension draw extra power or generate heat when used continuously?

It draws power from the USB bus and requires no external adapter, so it adds no separate heat source or power supply to your setup.

What port must my computer already have for this cable to function?

A standard USB 3.0 Type-A port is needed; the cable is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 ports as well.

Will my older USB 2.0 peripherals work at full speed through this 3.0 active extension?

Yes, the cable is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 devices, so legacy gear connects without issues.
