Morse CTS54 Hole Cutter 86mm
The Morse CTS54 is a carbide-tipped hole cutter with an 86mm diameter, built for clean, fast cuts in sheet metal such as control panels and electrical boxes. Its ground tooth profile and step centre pilot drill reduce breakthrough impact, while a shouldered body prevents pass-through to protect components at shallow depths. An ejector spring assists slug removal. One cutter is supplied per box.
Thermals noise and power draw
The cutter generates heat only through friction at the cutting interface, with no motor or electronics of its own. Noise levels depend entirely on the drill or magnetic base unit driving the tool and the material being cut. Power draw is determined by the host machine and the feed pressure applied by the operator.
Sustained load behaviour
Under continuous use the carbide tips maintain their edge, allowing repeated precision holes without rapid dulling. The ejector spring clears slugs reliably, preventing clogging that would otherwise increase resistance and heat. Replacement pilot drill CTSP 166010 and ejector spring CTSS 166027 are available separately to keep the cutter performing over long production runs.

Questions about this item
How do I install the Morse CTS54 86mm hole cutter and what step is commonly missed?
Mount the cutter in your drill chuck, align the CTSP 166010 pilot drill with the marked centre, then start drilling; the step most users skip is verifying the shouldered body seats flush so the depth stop actually prevents pass-through into the panel.
Which replacement parts will the Morse CTS54 86mm cutter need over time?
The CTSP 166010 pilot drill and CTSS 166027 ejector spring are the two service items; swap the pilot when it no longer centres cleanly and replace the spring when slugs stop ejecting automatically.
What is the first limitation that appears when using the Morse CTS54 86mm cutter continuously in sheet metal?
The shouldered body limits maximum cutting depth, so sustained use on thicker material will hit that depth stop before the carbide teeth wear out.
