A 168 mm carbide grit hole saw for installing recessed lighting, with a continuous edge that reduces snagging and requires a separate Morse arbor
This Morse MHSG106 carbide grit hole saw is built for electricians and contractors installing recessed lighting fixtures. The 168 mm diameter matches common housing sizes and the continuous cutting edge reduces snagging or tearing of the finish cut. One saw is supplied per box and a separate Morse arbor must be purchased to mount it in a drill chuck. The grit edge handles abrasive materials such as plaster, tile and laminates that dull conventional bi-metal teeth.
The 6-5/8 inch diameter cleanly bores the large openings required by most commercial recessed cans. Carbide grit maintains cutting speed in lath and plaster, ceramic tile and fibre-cement board where toothed saws bog down. The saw runs out of depth when the workpiece exceeds the standard cup height, so very thick beams or double-layer ceilings need a different approach. Grit wear accelerates in hardened steel or dense hardwood, limiting service life in those materials.
Swapping a dull bi-metal saw for this carbide grit model restores fast, clean cuts in plaster, tile and laminates without changing arbor systems. The upgrade is worth it when snagging or torn finishes slow down a lighting retrofit and the existing Morse MA35PSNCT or MA45PSNCT arbor is already on site. Buyers who need to cut mild steel, stainless or thick hardwoods should stay with bi-metal or dedicated metal-cutting saws because grit edges wear quickly in those applications.

The continuous carbide grit edge should produce a smooth, clean hole without snagging or tearing the finish cut when used at proper speed and pressure.
One hole saw is supplied per box; the required Morse MA35PSNCT or MA45PSNCT arbor must be purchased separately.
