Compact UHF radio for professional teams

The Motorola CP185-U is a portable two-way radio delivering 4W UHF output power across 16 channels. It operates on 435-480MHz frequencies and meets military 810 C, D, E, F standards plus IP54 protection against dust, rain, shock, and vibration. An FCC licence is required to operate this unit. The ergonomic design supports hands-free VOX operation for improved safety and efficiency.

Verify licensing and frequency compatibility

Before ordering, confirm that your organisation holds a valid FCC licence for UHF business-band use. Ensure the 435-480MHz range aligns with your allocated frequencies and that 16 channels provide sufficient capacity for your talk-groups. Check that adjustable power levels and programmable buttons match your operational procedures and that the included Li-ion battery pack and charger suit your shift patterns.

Integrates with repeater systems and accessories

The radio is repeater-capable, extending coverage when paired with compatible infrastructure. It accepts standard Motorola audio accessories for headset or speaker-microphone use, freeing the user's hands. Voice inversion scrambling adds basic privacy on shared channels, while channel scan, priority scan, and nuisance delete keep communication focused. The LED status light and battery meter provide at-a-glance readiness checks.
