Handheld 1D laser scanner reads barcodes from contact to 17 inches with USB cable and stand included
The Motorola LS2208-SR20001R-UR is a corded handheld scanner built for retail, healthcare, education and government counter work. It reads standard 1D symbologies including UPC/EAN, Code 39, Code 128 and GS1 DataBar using a 650 nm visible laser diode. A USB cable and Intellistand are included for immediate plug-and-play deployment. The white ergonomic body weighs very little and balances in the hand for all-day use.
The scanner draws 130 mA typical and 175 mA maximum at 5 V over USB, so it adds negligible load to a host port and needs no external power supply. The single-board construction has no moving parts, making operation completely silent. Tempered glass protects the exit window from scratches that could degrade optical performance over time. Drop testing to five feet ensures the internals stay aligned after everyday impacts.
This unit replaces older tethered laser wands that lack USB connectivity or a hands-free stand. The wide working range from contact to 17 inches (43 cm) and ±65° pitch tolerance speed up throughput at busy checkouts. Buyers who need cordless freedom or 2D imaging capability should look elsewhere. The fixed cable limits mobility to the tether length, so it suits stationary stations rather than roaming inventory tasks.

| Drop | Unit functions normally after repeated 5 ft/1.5 m drops to concrete |
Connect the USB cable to the host port, place the scanner in the Intellistand, and scan the USB HID configuration barcode from the quick-start guide to set the interface.
Clean the scratch-resistant tempered glass exit window regularly; the single-board construction has no user-serviceable parts and meets 5 ft drop specifications.
The working range ends at 17 inches (43 cm); beyond that the 650 nm laser cannot maintain the 20% minimum print contrast ratio for accurate decoding.
