Plug-and-play USB microphone

The Movo DOM2-USB is a compact omnidirectional microphone that connects directly to a computer or MacBook via USB. It requires no driver installation or external power supply, drawing power from the host device. The unit weighs 0.082 and includes a carrying case for transport. It is designed for immediate use with web-conferencing and recording applications.

Suited for solo voice capture

This microphone works well for remote workers, students and content creators who need clearer audio for Zoom meetings, streaming or vlogs without a bulky setup. The omnidirectional pattern picks up sound evenly from all sides, which is convenient for a single speaker at a desk. Buyers who need directional pickup to reject room noise or who require multiple microphone inputs for interviews should look at other solutions.

Handles close-range speech

The -30 decibel sensitivity provides adequate gain for speaking directly in front of a laptop during calls or tutorials. Corded electric power ensures consistent performance without battery management. Headroom diminishes quickly when the speaker moves away or when ambient sound levels rise, making it less suitable for group discussions or recording in untreated rooms.

Questions about this item

Does my computer need a free USB-A port for the DOM2-USB to work?

Yes, the microphone connects through a wired USB-A plug so the host must provide an available USB-A socket or a compatible adapter.

Will the omnidirectional pickup still capture my voice clearly if I keep using my older laptop with its built-in mic enabled?

The DOM2-USB captures sound equally from all sides at -30 dB sensitivity, so it will record your voice more evenly than a built-in mic, but you should disable the internal microphone in system settings to avoid echo.

How can I confirm the microphone is recording at the specified -30 dB sensitivity after plugging it in?

Open your operating system's sound input panel, speak at a normal level, and verify the input meter moves well into the green range without clipping; that indicates the capsule is performing at its rated sensitivity.
