Compatible Thermostat Models

This 3.7V 380mAh lithium-polymer battery pack replaces the original TL284443 cell in Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 2 and Gen 3 units, as well as models T3007ES and T3008US. It restores the backup power that keeps schedules and settings alive during mains outages. The pack delivers 1.41Wh of capacity and includes the small tools needed to open the thermostat housing.

Practical Limits of the Battery Chemistry

Lithium-polymer cells degrade with age and temperature extremes, so capacity will gradually fall below the rated 380mAh over several years of service. The thermostat draws a small continuous current to maintain its display and Wi-Fi radio, meaning the pack cannot sustain operation indefinitely during a prolonged power cut. No charge-cycle rating or shelf-life figure is supplied by the manufacturer.

Installation Notes and Common Issues

Installation requires removing the thermostat from its base, disconnecting the old pack, and plugging in the new connector; the included tools fit the security screws on the Gen 2 and Gen 3 housings. The most frequent problem is seating the connector fully — a partial connection causes the low-battery warning to return within days. Ensure the pack lies flat in the cavity before snapping the display back onto the base.

Questions about this item

Which battery capacity should I pick for my Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 2?

The pack is a single 3.7 V, 380 mAh, 1.41 Wh lithium-polymer cell that matches the original TL284443 specification.

How long will the 380 mAh rating actually run the thermostat?

At 3.7 V and 1.41 Wh the cell delivers the same energy as the factory battery, so runtime is identical to the original.

Does the TL284443 connector fit the Gen 2 and Gen 3 base plates without modification?

Yes, the replacement is built to the TL284443 pinout and fits Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 2, Gen 3, T3007ES and T3008US directly.
