18-inch QHD+ 240Hz Gaming Laptop

The MSI Crosshair 18 HX AI is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around a 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 8GB GDDR7 memory. It targets enthusiasts who want high frame rates on a large 2560 x 1600 IPS panel covering 100% DCI-P3. The system ships with 32GB DDR5 5600MHz RAM and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe SSD under Windows 11 Pro.

Thermals Power and Acoustics

A 240W power adapter feeds the 90Whr 4-cell battery while the Cooler Boost 5 thermal design manages heat from the 24-core CPU and RTX 5070 during extended sessions. The chassis measures 15.9 x 11.02 x 1.17 inches and weighs 6.83 lbs, providing internal volume for airflow without resorting to extreme fan speeds in typical gaming loads. Per-key RGB lighting on the 99-key SteelSeries keyboard adds visual feedback without increasing acoustic output.

RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7 Graphics

The single specification that decides fit is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR7 video memory. This GPU tier determines which titles run at native QHD+ 240Hz versus those requiring resolution scaling, and it fixes the graphics power envelope for the entire platform. Buyers comparing configurations should match this GPU against their target game settings and desired frame rates.

Questions about this item

Can the HDMI 2.1 port drive an external 4K display at its native refresh rate?

The HDMI 2.1 output supports 4K resolution at up to 240 Hz, matching the panel's maximum refresh capability.

Will the 240 W power adapter charge the battery while the CPU and GPU are under full load?

The 240 W adapter is sized to sustain the Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070 at their peak turbo frequencies without drawing from the 90 Wh battery.

Is the 32 GB DDR5 5600 MHz memory soldered or can it be upgraded later?

Both SO-DIMM slots are populated for 32 GB total; the modules are removable so capacity can be increased to 64 GB with compatible DDR5 5600 sticks.
