Buyers who want a 17 inch laptop with a 120 Hz screen, six-core i7-8750H processor and dedicated GTX 1070 graphics for gaming or GPU-accelerated design work will find this configuration balanced. Users who need a higher-resolution panel, a newer GPU architecture or a lighter chassis should look at other models.

GTX 1070 8 GB GDDR5 dedicated graphics

The discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with 8 GB GDDR5 memory handles modern titles at high settings on the native 1080p display. It also accelerates rendering and video workloads. This GPU is the single component that determines whether the system meets your performance target.

Questions about this item

Can the 16 GB DDR4 RAM be upgraded later?

The laptop ships with 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory; MSI typically provides two SO-DIMM slots, so you can add or replace modules up to the platform maximum.

What thermal limit appears first during long gaming sessions?

The CPU can boost to 4.1 GHz, but sustained loads on the GTX 1070 Max-Q and six-core i7-8750H will hit the cooling system's heat-pipe capacity before either chip reaches its throttle point.

How loud do the fans get when the system runs all day?

Under continuous load the dual fans spin up to move heat from the 8 GB GDDR5 GPU and 45 W CPU, producing a noticeable but not intrusive airflow noise typical of 17.3" gaming chassis.
